TECHNOLOGY

Saint Patrick School was one of the first schools in the diocese to have Activboards in every classroom plus a trained teacher to instruct others. We also proudly boast having 75 AlphaSmart word processors, and two sets of Hand Held Responders. Each classroom has at least two computers. Saint Patrick Computer lab is equipped with 28 new Dell computers.

Our goal is to strengthen the skills students need to access, interpret, and synthesize information. Technology is used as a tool for learning and developing critical thinking skills across the content area. This is accomplished through teaching computer literacy, writing and desktop publishing, information management, and information retrieval.

The curriculum begins in Kindergarten with basic keyboarding, word processing, and creating simple graphic designs. Power point presentations, word documents, graphic designs, and keyboarding skills are all part of the elementary level computer program. The middle school curriculum includes spread sheets, databases, multimedia projects, charts, research, and creating web pages.

We believe technology should enhance and enrich as well as extend the existing curriculum. It is used in a variety of ways within the classroom and computer lab setting.
